Most of our students attended the 30th Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO) conference held in Montreal from April 22-24, 2015. The lab is proud to announce that Cybelle Abate won 1st prize in the oral presentation from a student category for the presentation of her Master's research project: ‘Moderators of parent-child agreement on pediatric cancer survivor’s psychological status.’

Several members of our lab have been very active and are mentioned in two documents from the Canadian Psychological Association (CPS). In their Health Newsletter from November 2014, Serge Sultan wrote a paragraph about the two winners of the 2014 Ronald Melzack Student Award. Serge Sultan gave an oral presentation at the Haematology-Oncology Scientific Day organized by LEUCAN on November 19, 2014 at CHU Sainte-Justine. His presentation was entitled ‘Impact à long terme du cancer sur la qualité de vie et sur l’humeur’ and spoke of preliminary results from the PETALE and PSY-ALL projects. Other well-known paediatric oncology researchers gave oral presentations on this day ‘Guérir d’un cancer pédiatrique : quelle vie après?’ including Melissa Hudson from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Paul Nathan from the Hospital for Sick Children.
Two members of the laboratory participated in the 8th congress of l’Association Francophone de Psychologie de la Santé (AFPSA), which took place in Liege (Belgium), from December 15 to 17, 2014. The two studies were presented during a symposium about prevention and rehabilitation in paediatric psychology. The first study focused on identifying sociocognitive determinants of treatment adherence in children and adolescents with haemophilia. The second study aimed to describe the psychoaffective status of paediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia survivors and to identify a rapid strategy for identifying psychoaffective distress.
The lab is proud to have attended the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) conference held in Toronto from October 22 to 25, 2014. Five doctoral students in Clinical Psychology presented their research projects. These studies include quality of life, screening for distress and the adjustment to cancer with populations of children diagnosed with cancer (in treatment and palliative care) and their parents. Willow Burns won first prize for her poster entitled 'Towards a dyadic understanding of parental couples' marital satisfaction in the pediatric cancer context' in the psycho-oncology category.

Some members of the laboratory attended clinical training for caregivers of children diagnosed with cancer entitled 'Surviving Cancer Competency Intervention Program (SCCIP-ND) - Training Workshops'. This training took place in Philadelphia on October 16 and 17 2016 at the Center for Pediatric Traumatic Stress, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Nemours/Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children and was provided by Anne E. Kazak, Ph.D. and Stephanie Schneider, M.S.
In the summer of 2014, the laboratory obtained support from FRQS for the psychoaffective monitoring of a cohort of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia in Montreal, Hamilton and Québec. The title of the project is: 'Statut psychoaffectif à long terme chez des survivants d'une leucémie lymphoblastique aiguë dans l'enfance: description, association avec les troubles cognitifs, identification, et impact du traitement'.
